It is all the more special when friends trust their weddings in my hands. The dreary January weather did not dampen anyone's spirit as the party celebrated Vincent and Winnie's wedding.
The chose the charming Minoru Chapel as the intimate setting for tying the knot. The evening banquet was at the Neptune Sharkfin Seafood Restaurant in Richmond (Yes, Chinese people see Sharkfin as a delicacy.)
For those who are not familiar with the Chinese wedding customs, at the reception, guests would "ding" their glasses with chopsticks. That's asking the couple to kiss in public. Unlike most shy Chinese couples, Vincent was dinging his own glass with two hands in the last picture!
My mother would be disappointed that I have no plans to get married yet, but I would love to do more wedding photography. I have been busy meeting with engaged couples for their spring/summer bookings.
The deep winter is always the months to plan rather than to celebrate weddings (obviously it's the other way around in Asia where Nov-Feb is the peak season for weddings.) I will post some never-been-seen pictures from previous weddings and photo shoots.
Just returned from the Enacting Abstracttion exhibition from the Vancouver Art Gallery. Abstract expression is not in my creative blood, although I dabbled with it curiously rather than seriously as a young teen. It did inspire me to play with patterns and colours more. Have a concept for a painting with lots of squares. Stay tuned. I will post some pictures of the work yet-to-be-made.
I am always drawn to colours when I see art, especially vibrant flat colours as background. So I thought to myself, well why don't I try it?
art at snow exclusive north american destination pre-wedding at Darizi is finally online.
Asian clients who wish to have their pre-wedding photography taken in North American can contact Michelle through Darizi.
I am very excited to hear from Darizi members. The layout of the page is exquisite. I will let my blog readers in for a secret. The couple in the two most prominent pictures are my brother and sister-in-law! I am so proud of them being chosen to be the featured pictures.
I finally did more website updating, long overdue as usual.
I have added the image gallery of 2 new weddings, and also imported the students' gallery from my old website.
Wedding page (the last 2 are new): http://www.artatsnow.com/photography/photography_subpages/wedding_subpages/index.htm Students' Gallery (click on the link at the bottom): http://www.artatsnow.com/photography/photography_subpages/teaching_subpages/index.htm
I have not posted new pictures for a while. Here are a few pictures from my recent trip to Hong Kong.
Thank you Papa and Mama who woke up at 5am to see the "sunrise" at the Fei Ngo (Hong Kong) with me. It was a beautiful experience. No, we did not see a sun.
Thank you Cherie, Francis, Howard and Wai with whom I went to Ma Si Chau (Hong Kong.) It was a lot of fun. Thank you Auntie Sef for inviting me to the Guangzhou Triannual. I had always wanted to go back to the Chen Family Ancestral Temple. The second picture is a building just outside the temple.
This morning I had a photo shoot with photographer David Ellingsen (http://www.davidellingsen.com) I am on the other side of the camera this time.
This talented photographer is shooting artists' portraits with their artworks. I had wanted to have some portraits with my artworks, just never taking the time to.
I had a lot of fun with David and the gentle and skilled make-up artist Jessica Venturi.
I had never had portraits taken in my orange studio. I do look forward to the pictures!
It has been a while since I posted work in progress/new works. It is not because I have not been working on my art, but the pieces I am working on are large-scale detailed works that take a long long time to finish.
I am hereby posting a crude detailed image of a newly completed drawing. I will need to get it professionally scanned before I can show it to you.
