Just returned from the Enacting Abstracttion exhibition from the Vancouver Art Gallery. Abstract expression is not in my creative blood, although I dabbled with it curiously rather than seriously as a young teen. It did inspire me to play with patterns and colours more. Have a concept for a painting with lots of squares. Stay tuned. I will post some pictures of the work yet-to-be-made.

I am always drawn to colours when I see art, especially vibrant flat colours as background. So I thought to myself, well why don't I try it?

Very thankful

The past few days have been a whirlwind.

Not only having out-of-town guests to entertain, but I also have meetings and PPABC applications to prepare for. Definitely it's wonderful to stay busy, although it means some art-making time has been sacrificed.

I went to a talk on Jeff Wall by Ian Wallace at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Tuesday. Being a long-time friend of Wall's, Wallace chose a light and conversational approach with the audiences. The talk definitely generated my interest to learn more about this master who has an impenetrable presence at the University of British Columbia.

I am very glad I went.
